At home, my wife and I have been playing around with the “uncluttered” approach to life. You know, bare bones essentials, etc. However, it’s been a bit tough…throwing away stuff, giving it away, whatever.
With that in mind, I found this quote from Jamie Lee Curtis to be inspiring. I’ve always admired Jamie Lee, and not just because my dad took me to see Trading Places in my youth (wink), but because she always seemed so upbeat in the roles she played (ok, I skipped the other ones). That aside, this quote caught my attention…probably because I’m getting older myself and trimming down is a goal that increases in direct proportion to my waistline (more walking, less blogging might take care of that).
Curtis says growing older means paring down to an essential version of yourself. “I’ve let my hair go gray. I wear only black and white. Every year I buy three or four black dresses that I just keep in rotation. I own one pair of blue jeans. I’ve given away all my jewelry, because I don’t wear it,” she says.

Paring down to an essential version of yourself…not a bad approach and well within the Laws of Simplicity. But how do I accomplish that, that paring down to an essential version of one-self?
