Comic Fun

In my previous entry, I shared two tools for comics, but obviously,
there’s a lot more to learn! I checked to see who was linking and
noticed Nancy
Mckeand (Random Thoughts Blog)
. In one of her entries, she
references Darren K. (A Difference) and this teacher I’d never heard of
or read about–Russell
Stannard
. He has a nice collection of training videos for teachers
on his site. He writes:

As a computing lecturer, I use screen capture software on nearly all my
courses. For not only does it allow you to record the screen of your
computer as if it were a video but if your computer has a microphone, it
can also record your voice. Whatever you do on screen, whatever
programmes you open or close, wherever you move your cursor, everything
is "videoed".

One of the links took me to his column, which he’s been writing for 7
years, where there was an article on ToonDoo…you guessed it, a comic
book maker. Here’s a
part of his article
:

I set the situation by telling my students that they had to create a
cartoon dialogue where their mum or dad was nagging them and asking them
if they had done all their chores (eg Have you done your homework? Have
you tidied your room? Have you made your bed?). I then got the students
to present their cartoons to me in the next lesson. This worked quite
well, but if I did it again, I would set a word limit or a page limit.
One student really got into the idea and made a story of about five
pages, the other student did only two.

Check it out and have fun!
