Ive been meaning to purchase and try working with some Linux based PCs, maybe this would suffice. At 512MB of RAM though, would that be enough or would you recommend purchasing additional memory?

Paul, great question. I’m not sure if you can get it with more RAM, though. I always like to get a computer with as much RAM as it can handle (and the OS, too) but I don’t know if an Acer can handle more RAM. Maybe someone else knows? That said, I’ve been very happy with GNU/Linux–especially UbuntuLinux–running on a computer. I encourage you to give it a shot.If it’s any consolation, my kids use GNU/Linux on occasion (although their pref is Windows XP because of the games they have) to burn audio CDs, etc.Wishing you well,Miguel

Well, turns out you can add more memory to the Acer Aspire One. Someone reports adding an additional gig:http://dawhoo.com/blog/how-to-install-kubuntu-on-acer-aspire-one/And, this write-up confirms it:”You can buy more RAM and somewhat easily (not very) add it to the Acer Aspire One.”http://www.osnews.com/story/20465/Review_Acer_Aspire_One
