Robert Scott – Textbooks and Legislative session

Jennifer Bergland (Bryan ISD) recently recorded a podcast of Robert Scott (shown above), Commissioner of Education for Texas. He spoke at the 2008 Textbook Coordinator’s Conference in Austin, Texas.

I haven’t listened to it yet, but had the opportunity to convert it from m4a format to mp3 for listening in my iRiver T10 mp3 player.

You can find Jennifer’s original here:

and the MP3 version here:

On a technical note, on UbuntuLinux, I took these steps to get the m4a file:

  1. Viewed the source code to find the exact address of the m4a file
  2. Used this command to download it:
    wget http://fc.bryanisd.org/~bergland/FOV1-0005D8FE/S0604501D-0604501D.0/Robert%20Scott%2012-9-2008.m4a
  3. Used this command to convert it to MP3:
    ffmpeg -i *.m4a robertscott.mp3
