After upgrading to Adobe Air 1.5 on UbuntuLinux 8.10, TweetDeck stopped working. I tried to reinstall but received this error:

Sorry, an error has occurred. The application could not be installed because the AIR file is damaged. Try obtaining a new AIR file from the application author.

Disappointing.

So, while I tweeted–via the Twitter web page, yuck–for help, I remembered Twhirl and installed it without problem. They had an updated version.

In the meantime, @zorder responded with this:

zorder @mguhlin you need to reinstall the application after upgrading to AIR 1.5 on Linux – details/steps at http://is.gd/cBcu

The detailed instructions at Zorder’s link above involve using Synaptic Package Manager to completely remove TweetDeck and then reinstall. Sure enough, the install worked but tweetdeck isn’t just yet. Maybe a restart will take care of it…will have to try again tomorrow.

In the meantime, Twhirl is working fine!
