TxDLA09LearnMe Conference Materials

(Enrollment key is “txdla” without quotes)

What tips would you like to share regarding facilitating online courses with Conference participants? Be sure to include your name and a link to your web site. Some preliminary responses appear at the end of this blog post.

Next week, Tonya Mills and I will have the opportunity to present at the Texas Distance Learning Association (TxDLA) annual conference (Greg Rodriguez was the original presenter but since he abandoned us for a higher paying job, we get to deliver it!). I’m thrilled because this will be my first time to attend the TxDLA Conference, even though I’ve always wanted to. Perhaps, it’s because “distance learning” always seemed an impossible goal to achieve using the existing video-conferencing technologies I associated with the phrase.

Easy access to course management systems, as well as the TxDLA, has changed all that, making online learning environments THE place to be. And, I’m coming to TxDLA with a mixture of expectation and hope that I’ll learn much of what I’ve been missing out on.

On top of that expectation, I also excited to facilitate a 45-minute session. PBS TeacherLine will be featured prominently in that session, especially for all the work they’ve done in creating high quality, rigorous content to share. Without PBS TeacherLine, I probably would still wandering in the desert of online course facilitation.

I invite you, even if you’re not going to be at the Conference, to participate via Twitter, blogging, and joining the online learning space (Enrollment key is “txdla” without quotes)Tonya and I have created for our presentation. I see the presentation at TxDLA as the beginning of a learning journey with participants, and I hope you’ll jump in and share what you’re learning about teaching, learning and leading online.

If you are going to blog or use twitter, I encourage you to use the hashtag/tag of “txdla09learnme” or #txdla09learnme. This will allow us to aggregate your words and feedback. Thank you!
