Moodlin’ More

I’ve been thrilled to have an article accepted for publication by MassCUE–are you a MassCUE member? Let me know when you see my article, Engaging Online Learners!. It’s apparently due out in April or May and is the first of a 3 part series on the subject. One of the editors shared:

The spring issue should get to the printer by mid-April and will be sent out shortly thereafter. I really enjoyed your article and I think it hits the right note for our readers…I think this issue looks quite good – I really like your contribution.

I have to confess that while I have few qualms about publishing online, knowing that an article will appear in print in another state has me anxious about how the audience will receive it.

This actually means that 3 articles that mention Moodle will be in print or online at the same time:

  1. Texas – TCEA TechEdge is publishing my Moodle Habitudes article anytime now.
  2. Massachusetts – MassCUE is publishing Engaging Online Learners, first of a 3 part series.
  3. Education World – Has published the first of a 2 part series.

As exciting as that is, I’m thrilled to begin reading my review copy of Mary “moodlefairy” Cooch’s book, Moodle 1.9 for Teaching 7-14 Year Olds: Effective e-Learning for younger students, using Moodle as your Classroom Assistant – Beginner’s Guide. Just skimming the free copy that Packt Publishing sent me, I’m excited at some of the ideas moodlefairy brings up in just the first chapter. Obviously, it’s going to take a bit longer to work my way through it to share here but I just HAVE to read it over the next week.

All this Moodle focus has yielded some invitations to conduct workshops in Texas school districts, and one possible MoodleMoot keynote out of state. Whether those work out or not, I’m thrilled to be able to share what I’m learning with others…I find the rich and vibrant community surrounding Moodle to be extremely helpful and a week doesn’t go by that I don’t learn more.
