Economic Stimulus Panel in Austin Tx

Anita Givens (
Associate Commissioner, Standards and Programs, Texas Education Agency) will be presenting, perhaps serving on a panel, at the economic stimulus session in Austin, Tx on April 15th. A description of the event appears below:

Among the different funding channels for the state, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act provides Texas millions of dollars in ed-tech funds to purchase up-to-date computers and software. In addition to these funds, there are community service block grants, broadband monies, school modernization funds, STEM support dollars and more. Converge and its Center for Digital Education has been tracking the bill since early January. The research team is conducting a constant scan of media and political coverage. This session will offer a few fresh ideas about non-traditional educational funding channels.

Any Texans attending the event? I’m conferenced out until November and will be trying to apply much of what I’ve learned in work setting. However, it seems clear that someone from your organization should go:

8:30 am – Registration
12:00 pm – Lunch
1:00 pm – Adjourn

The Driskill Hotel
604 Brazos Street
Austin, TX 78701

Note that the event is “Complimentary for all higher education, K-12 educators and public sector employees!”
