Ever wish you could have people leave audio comments in Discussion Forums easily? Well, you probably already know that you can use Moodle Discussion Forums as easy ways to create podcasts IF you turn on the RSS feed for discussion forums. Or, you can use Audio Recorder Module.

Here is another way….

I just ran across this awesome Java applet, NanoGong for Moodle. Here’s a quick overview:

NanoGong provides a very simple and transparent voice support for Moodle. Using a NanoGong activity and a NanoGong filter NanoGong provides two different types of voice support for Moodle…The NanoGong activity is an exercise that can be put on a course. Every student in the course can submit several voice recordings together with optional text messages using the activity. Teachers in the course can then examine these submissions, give comments and assign a score to each of them.

Check out the installation instruction for NanoGong…note the warning displayed:

Warning: The installation of the NanoGong HTMLArea will overwrite some of the core files of your Moodle system, please make sure you have made backups before proceeding
