A few months ago (prior to summer), I tried working with XAMPP for Macintosh. It was pretty kludgy and I couldn’t honestly recommend using it. However, as I was working on creating some videos for how to install XAMPP on Windows and Moodle, I was surprised to see that XAMPP for Mac has improved quite a bit! Furthermore, Moodle.org uses XAMPP bundled with Moodle download to make it easy to install.
The installation was straightforward–drag the XAMPP folder into the Applications folder, then double-click the XAMPP Control Panel to get it started. After that, no big deal. I’m working on a series of video tutorials for installing Moodle, part of which include XAMPP.
