Moodle for Cybersafety

An interesting use of Moodle was made by Lewisville ISD in Texas. They’ve used Moodle as portal for teachers, students, and parents to access grade level appropriate CyberSafety materials. The tools used to share the information is really irrelevant, but a Moodle does allow for greater interaction than a static page. Kudos to Lewisville ISD for choosing to use a Moodle and, perhaps, offer a course to the community on CyberSafety!

Of course, this raises the argument…should we use a Moodle where everything is closed, or a wiki where everything is open? Does sharing content the way Lewisville ISD has done–which looks pretty open to me–negate the objection that content isn’t easily accessible in Moodle?

For example, check out the following Moodle-based sites from Lewisville ISD:

Regardless of the tool used to communicate, kudos to all districts working hard to develop digital citizenship in K-12!
