Live in Texas? Take advantage of the Texas Distance Learning Association (TxDLA) offer of scholarships to attend their March conference:
Hello TxDLA members or prospective members!
With the economic crisis emerging, many schools and organizations are unable to pay for their employees or students to attend conferences. TxDLA has responded to this need by creating scholarships for individuals to participate in the annual conference (March 21-24, Houston.) When developing these scholarships, the committee on scholarships, in collaboration with the 2008-2009 TxDLA president, formed guidelines for the awarding of these scholarships. There are several types of scholarships available through TxDLA. The areas that will be emphasized in the review of the applications include:
* Leadership Interest: Are you a current leader or interested in being a future TxDLA leader?
* Student Status: Are you a student in the field of distance learning or a related major?
* Financial/Need Based: Is your budget restricting travel funds?
* Presenting: Are you a presenter for the conference?
* Constituency: Are you employed by an underrepresented group (corporate, military, health care, etc.?)
* Membership Status: Are you a new member to TxDLA?
All of these scholarships are based on need, but for each type of award, the above areas will be used for selection.
We look forward to the proposal submissions. The deadline for submitting your application is January 29th. The committee will have the results of the scholarship awards by February 15th.
