Isn’t it neat to learn something new every day? I was thrilled to see this question from Joel B. about conditional activities in Moodle:
I don’t know what to call it exactly, but have you ever covered a topic of how to make the access of an activity contingent upon the completion of another?
So, for example, a student could not begin quiz #2 until she had “successfully” met certain criteria/score in completing quiz #1?
Is that possible – and if so, how is it done? At what level can it be done? Activities – Topics – Courses?
To this question, I shared I didn’t know much about this in Moodle 1.9, but there is certainly a way to accomplish it in Moodle 2.0. Below, please find responses and approach depending on your Moodle version:

- TIP: Previous users of activity locking or conditional activities should note there are some new terms in 2.0. The activity setting menu uses “Restrict availability”, which is more robust than the previous activity locking conditions. The activity setting menu also has a new functionality called “Activity completion”. Both these menu settings must be enabled by the administrator.
