Molly Valdez, a work colleague and online learning facilitator and instructional designer, recently read History Teaching with Moodle 2 by John Mannion from Packt Publishing. In her entry, she writes:
John Mannion’s book guides readers through a quick setup of a functional, online Moodle classroom in the first chapter and then spends the rest of the book directly on the aspects of Moodle that appeal to History teachers. Any other content area teacher will also benefit from this book for practical instruction on the use of visuals, interactive content, and student evaluation of information in Moodle…Advanced and beginner Moodlers alike will find the chapters on Xertes, an interactive visual add-in for Moodle, and the chapter devoted to Moodle Workshop features, very interesting and useful. Moodle Workshop has been a challenge, and the author’s practical step-by-step tutorial makes it easy for teachers to use Moodle for students to self evaluate their own work as well as that of classmates.
