Not unlike my earlier blog post on Digital Signage, I found myself asking what the heck are custom wallplates when I read the following question:
Anyone have a vendor for customized faceplates? Need VGA/RCA/USB/Audio.
Then, I read this on a vendor web site:
Whether you need VGA ports for lobby displays or overhead projectors, USB ports for special computer enclosures, Ethernet ports for clean networking, or anything else, you can cut a wall plate with just the right configuration for your application. (Adapted from this source, DataPro.net)
Some of the responses provided by technology directors include the following:
- Hubbell infin-e-station face plates they let you build any combination you like and change it later with ease. They are a lot cheaper than rapid run and other vendors. Many faceplate options include termination blocks so you can use cat 5 instead of other cables to save even more.
- RapidRun for Education
- Monoprice has a vga plate with four keystone spots. You could then get three RCA keystone jacks and one USB keystone jack.
