Over at Tame the Web, Michael Stephens shares the 4 laws of simplicity which are reflected at Zen Habits. Michael summarizes them in this way:

1. Collect everything in one place.

2. Choose the essential.

3. Eliminate the rest.

4. Organize the remaining stuff neatly and nicely.

What might the 4 laws of simplification look like for educational leaders? I’m not sure, but for fun, here’s a quick stab at it:

1. Move all district/central office staff and put them in one building. Proximity works to highlight conversations. 

2. Encourage crucial conversations/confrontations among them that align innovative thinking to organizational goals.

3. Eliminate the rest and shift the budgets into one big pool of funding.

4. Organize the efforts to ensure efforts of small teams are maximized.

Well, that was easy, wasn’t it?
