Every time I turn around, there’s a new tool available for Mastodon. My favorite one at the moment remains the Scheduler, which allows me to schedule posts to Mastodon in advance. This is a time-saver for when I’m getting ready to facilitate a presentation…posts mysteriously pop up even though I’m not even around.
Linode Support for Mastodon
This announcement ended up in my inbox from Linode server hosts…
Users have increasingly sought decentralized options for software services. Open source social network Mastodon has been experiencing a surge in user demand.
Mastodon is now available on the Linode Marketplace, so you can easily configure your Mastodon network and start a server in minutes.
Also, be sure to read about new Core and Distributed sites to our global cloud network and receive an email notification when a location is available.
Reply Viewer
Julia Evans (Mastodon: @b0rk@jvns.ca) shared a new one the other day that I had to make a note of:
made another tiny mastodon helper site for myself todayThis one is https://mastodon-thread-view.jvns.ca, which I made because I start a lot of threads which get tons of replies and I get overwhelmed. So I made a minimal Reddit-like interface where I can read everyone’s replies to me more easily in context. It’s a static site where all the data stays in your browser. Here’s a blurred out screenshot (because it felt weird to share people’s posts in a screenshot)
I gave it a shot and it worked fairly well. I’m not sure I’ll use it on a regular basis, but it’s fascinating to get another perspective on replies which can go unnoticed, if you’re not watching them like a hawk.
Elk Zone
Lots of great ways to interact with Mastodon content. Here’s one more that has a slick interface for those viewing Mastodon website via the web browser. The interface is still in alpha, but promises to be fantastic, as you can see below…
Nice interface, right?
FollowGraph for Mastodon
Gabi Purcaru shares this new way to find folks to follow:
I recently joined Mastodon, and I found it jarring that it has very few discoverability features. So I’ve built this little tool to help build connections with people: https://followgraph.vercel.app/Check it out!
