There are a lot of ways that AI chatbots can be cited. Here is a quick list of my favorite tools in order of preference:
- A.I. Archives. This is a phenomenal tool to use (free) and lets you share links, citations as public or private. The supported AI chatbots include ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Meta. Supports MLA, APA, Chicago styles.
- AI Prompt Genius. A Chrome/Chromium browser extension.
- ShareGPT. A browser extension. Save chats as links, images, or PDFs.
- Enhanced ChatGPT. Exports chats as markdown.
- Perma.cc. Makes an archival copy of the website that you can access.
- PowerNotes.
- NoodleTools.
