Doug Johnson bemoans print books and I had to laugh:
So I broke down and bought the paperback version. And boy, do I regret it.
I had forgotten just what a pain in the butt reading a fat, heavy, stiff, small print publication can be. I have to have my reading glasses. I have to have really good light. I have to remember to bring the damn thing with me when I leave the house if I want to read it somewhere other than in my recliner. I have to rest my wrists and fingers now and then.
Of course, after forsaking Amazon Kindle Unlimited ebooks because of their dumping Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policy, I am now back to print books. My shelf includes C.J. Box’ books featuring Joe Pickett, which I got hooked on watching the series on some streaming service.
As I recall, Box also wrote Longmire, another favorite television series. I tried to read the Longmire books, but they exhausted most of the stories in the television series. Not an issue with Joe Pickett.
So, print books aren’t my complaint. Looking for new books to read? That would be my complaint. Amazon recommended new books all the time.
Now, I am pleased to have rediscovered Half-Price Bookstore. I urge you to go browse the bookstore and library. See what you find.

Miguel,
May I suggest using your public library to obtain new books? Crazy, I know, but it just might work!
Do they still have libraries in Texas?
