Here’s that term again along with a cool diagram via Philipp Schmid, a Senior AI Relation Engineer at Google DeepMind:

Context Engineering is the discipline of designing and building dynamic systems that provides the right information and tools, in the right format, at the right time, to give a LLM everything it needs to accomplish a task.
Read the whole piece from Philipp Schmid here.
I love the wrap up on this article since it is so apt:
It is about the engineering of context and providing the right information and tools, in the right format, at the right time. It’s a cross-functional challenge that involves understanding your business use case, defining your outputs, and structuring all the necessary information so that an LLM can “accomplish the task.”
I will be sharing this in upcoming presentations because it captures the whole process, and the shift from prompt chat to context design to get more precise results from GenAI Bots or GPTs.
