Exploring 3x3x3

After reading this blog entry, How to Use the 3-3-3 Method to Get a Lot More Done and Feel a Lot Less Pressured, by Jeff Haden, I thought I would ask Gemini,  whom I have spent a lot of time on recently, for a 3x3x3. It was fairly accurate the first time around, but the Memory feature added some things in that were not quite accurate. These are the results.

A 3x3x3 Prompt for You

After going back and forth with it, I asked it to provide a prompt that captured the process that anyone could use. This is what it came up with:

Act as a productivity coach. Create a 3-3-3 workday schedule based on the following tasks: [INSERT TASKS/PROJECTS HERE].

Organize the schedule into a 3×3 table within a markdown code block for easy copy-pasting. Use these headers for the columns:

  1. 3 Hours: Deep Work (Focus on the most important, high-leverage project).
  2. 3 Shorter / Urgent Tasks (Urgent to-dos, “sticky” tasks, or meetings).
  3. 3 Maintenance Activities (Routine tasks like email, exercise, or system updates).

Ensure the descriptions are concise and actionable. If I have provided a specific professional focus (like a conference or course), prioritize tasks related to that goal.

Here’s an example of what it came up for me:
