Explore these encryption tools. My favorite ones are ParanoiaWorks’ SSE and FileLock.
- 7-zip – File compression and encryption.
- AESCrypt – Encrypt your files easily with this free, open source software. Works on Mac, Windows, and Linux, so you’re not locked into one platform.
- Archive.is, Archive.ph – Get access to paywalled news websites or any archived web content submitted.
- CryptPad FR
- FileLock.org – Browser-based tool (run it offline, too) that you can use on Chromebooks.
- Keka – file compression software for Mac
- ParanoiaWorks’ Secure Space Encryptor (SSE) – This works on all platforms, and is well-worth paying for, even if it is free, open source. I use this every day.
- VeraCrypt – lets you create encrypted drives so that you can store your private information in them. Very easy to use…put your confidential information in the encrypted containers this program can create. I use it at least 1-2x a week to safeguard information in untrusted spaces.
Encrypted Communications
My sole selection is Signal. Works on desktop and smartphones.
