Selected Worst Edublog – Around the Corner

Today, I had the misfortune to encounter the newspaper article shown above. It is truly a disappointment to have spent so much time writing and sharing ideas and then encounter this narrow-thinking.

Thanks for the support, folks! I’m going to link to you to show MY support:

Note: Folks, if you haven’t read the Fine Print, you may not have noticed that this is a lesson in information literacy and how important it is to read everything…especially the Fine Print. Many of us–myself included–have a penchant for going off half-cocked in blogs, assuming that because it’s written about online, it’s something that must be true or worth doing. I encourage you to re-evaluate and notice that if you’re outraged about the Newspaper clipping featured in this email, it probably means you haven’t noticed ANYONE can make something similar.

  1. What!? They can’t be serious. Deceptive? We’re all trying blog the best we can, and you have been doing a great job of putting your thoughts online. I have enjoyed your blog and especially yor podcasts. They don’t know that about which they speak.

  3. Interesting. I agree with gary – I am sure that its a 5 way tie with stager to go in the mix too. The “IBBA” selection could raise a bite or too from some 1/4’s like IBO perhap.and the motto… Don’t always believe what you read. orWhat is it they say in freakonomics “assume nothing, question everything”

  5. Miguel, I don’t know who the “experts” are who compiled the list, but they are way off base here.Your postings are always interesting and informative. They cover a range of topics because educators need to be conversant with so many issues and innovations.I’m sorry that this has upset you. Please believe that you are valued and appreciated by a large audience.

  7. O.K. I bit. Was this an exercise in critical reading? Do you feel the need for positive reinforcement? Maybe I should comment more often so you don’t need to troll for the sympathy response.

  9. You cater to lifelong learners… rather than education bureaucrats obsessed with high stakes testing. That’s a bizarre proof for “worst edublog” Very Animal Farm…only very stupid could miss the irony of that statement.

  11. What? Who is IBBA anyway? I never heard of them! keep on blogging. As educators we have to take these things like a grain of salt. It’s here one minute, gone the next. You will forget about it soon! Keep on keeping on! More power to ya!

  13. This has to be a spoof! Did you create this Miguel? There are lots of IBBA’s on google but a blogging association isn’t one of them. 🙂 Regardless, your blog is at the top of my list of favorite blogs!Keep on blogging!!

  15. Who is IBBA? A figment of Miguels imagination. LOL Try this site too if you are in the mood for information literacy lessonshttp://www.dhmo.org

  16. I get it! You wrote the article using the Newspaper Clip Generator. Very cool site! I am definitely incorporating that site into my 5th grade classroom writing curriculum this year. Thanks for the tip!

  17. Hmm. Passive aggressive response to not getting an edublogger award this year. I like it. I will write a note to self to remember to nominate you for next year. You deserve that (in the least).

  19. Nominations for the second annual WE’s are coming soon. This year, all nominees must have a Feedburner readership below 70 (standard IQ based numbering system at work here).Additionally, Technorati ranking needs to be some single-digit, preferably a prime number.Sorry to hear about the posting of the news-clipping which announces the facetious and ignominious honor you created all by your lonesome.Hopefully, no one will fall for it.

  21. I was never taken in for a second. What balderdash! I would have a word to the author of the article though and tell him to try harder next time. LOL
