Football Game Video Footage Analysis

This is one of those off-the-wall request for information that are great because they are not the kind of question I would ask or run into.

Our District is looking at obtaining video equipment/software for recording then breaking down game footage. There are many different systems and software out there specifically for videoing football and the superintendent and head coach wants my input. Since we have just recently begun the football program, I have no experience with such systems. If you happen to know what your school uses and have any comments (pros, cons, features, etc.) about the system, I would appreciate the feedback. If you do reply, please indicate the size of your high school campus so I can see if there is a pattern based on size.

Some of the responses so far include:

  • I film our football games onto a DV Video Camera, then record it onto a DVD recorder and make a DVD MASTER COPY. The I make as many copies on my computer as necessary. The coach usually wants 2 or 3 copies. I also make copies available to students and parents for $5.00 each. We are a small 1A school with 330 students pre-K thru 12th.
  • Our football team uses DSV (http://www.dsvusa.com/). They seem to be pleased with it. Our high school has 2,500 students.
  • Our coaches use a system by WEBB Electronics. http://webbelectronics.com
They are very happy with it. It is not cheap but they feel it is well worth the investment. We are a large 5A school district.
  • Our staff uses a system from CoachComm (www.coachcomm.com). Expensive but state-of-the-art. Several colleges and professional organizations use it. We’re 4A with about 1500 at the high school.
