What’s a MoodleMoot?

What is a MoodleMoot? It is a conference dedicated to users, developers and administrators of the very popular open-source VLE called:

Ok, here’s the deal: I want to participate in a Texas MoodleMoot. One of the best things about Moodle is that it has such a large community supporting it…but I can’t quite tap into it, and travelling to Oklahoma this summer isn’t going to work for many Texas folks who may lack funding due to economic issues. As such, I’d like to schedule a MoodleMoot sometime in the future that will bring folks from Texas around. I believe there is tremendous interest in the subject.

I’m not sure how to get started, but did get some advice via email from Kristian Still in the UK after I asked about how to get a MoodleMoot started:

The name comes from Sean Keogh (http://moodle.org/user/view.php?id=1074&course=33) – its certainly not protected. He a great Moodle enthusiast and I believe his business is Moodle support. Best way to reach him is through his company = pppetnic http://www.pteppic.net/

So, I sent Sean a message via Moodle.org:

Sean, howdy! I’m in Texas and would like to get a MoodleMoot organized and going. Do you have any documents with suggestions about getting one organized and started? Budget? How do I get permission to use “MoodleMoot” and what criteria does the Conference have to meet to be considered a MoodleMoot?

If you’re interested in being on the organization of a MoodleMoot for Texas, then please let me know! Better yet, if you want to lead in the organization of one, know what to do, just tell me where to show up!
