Google Sites has a lot of possibilities as a wiki. However, until a Google Sites owner can backup and restore the content, it might as well not exist. In reading up on the subject, I ran across this discussion which recommends these solutions….
- Use WinHTTrack Website copier
- Use DownloadThemAll Firefox add-on to save the web pages to your hard drive.
- On GNU/Linux, use…
wget -r –cut-dirs=5 -nH -w 7 –random-wait –restrict-file-
names=nocontrol –user=”$GOOGLE_ACT” –http-passwd=”$GOOGLE_PWD”
$GOOGLE_URL
None of these are the best solution…which is a built-in way of backing up. Of course, I shouldn’t complain…my stuff is scattered across several wikis. That’s another way to backup, too, isn’t it?
