TexTAN

The following was shared via email….

TECSIG Members,

Come join TCEA in launching a new advocacy network for the state of Texas! This tool will enable educators and others to easily engage in the political process and help project a unified voice in support of a common cause—improving teaching and learning through the effective use of technology. TexTAN is a part of ETAN, a tool that was established to influence public policy-makers at the federal, state and local levels and to increase public investment in the competitiveness of America’s classrooms and students. ETAN and TexTAN are powerful and yet easy to use. When Texans join ETAN they will automatically be enrolled in TexTAN. Members of ETAN and TexTAN will be alerted when federal or state legislation affecting policy or law concerning educational technology is being considered and provide an easy way of contacting their representatives and senators.

TexTAN will be launched on February 3rd from 4:00 to 6:00 in Ballroom A at the Austin Convention Center. TCEA will be hosting a legislative panel from 4:00 to 5:00 with a reception following the panel in the rotunda outside Ballroom A. Come listen to members of the Texas House Committee on Education discuss issues related to education technology and then celebrate with us on the launching of TexTAN at the reception.
