Mobile Device Comparison Chart

As a result of the various conversations on here about what is the best mobile device, I thought I’d throw together this comparison chart, slightly expanding and adapting from Digital Rover’s chart, featured here. I’ll try to add more devices as time goes by.

When I look at the last column, I’m still hunting for the best netbook at a $300 price point that has all the features of the Workhorse Certeza. You might also want to read this review by Doug Johnson (Blue Skunk Blog) on the Asus Eee 1000 (which I don’t recommend for K-12 educators at all, which is why I didn’t feature it below, due to poor usability; it would work for students, though).

Are there any areas that are incorrect or out of date?

By the way, if the chart is too wide, you can view it here.

  1. Hi Miguel,Thanks for the head’s up about this Workhorse device – first I have heard of it.I can’t advise the ASUS for student use because we haven’t had enough time to experiment. However if writing is a part of your curriculum, I would be hesitant to make the iPod Touch (and I LOVE mine) or the Nokia as student machines. All the best,DougOh, half your last column is cut off in your post.

  3. I’ve got a Samsung NC10 that I like a great deal. Very functional and has everything the Certeza has, plus it’s been on the market for more than 6 mo. and the Certeza isn’t on sale yet.My 2 cents.Jim Lerman

  5. Some corrections for the Touch:Price: $229Storage: 8/16/32GBVOIP Support: Yes (Fring can use Skype or any SIP provider) Requires a $10 mic.Battery Life: Doesn’t require a computer to charge, can use a USB charger. I’ve used both the N800 and the Touch, and the Touch is just so much better than the N800. We are running a trial right now in a 5th grade classroom with the Touches. I haven’t used the N810, mainly because I’ve been totally satisfied with my Touch. 🙂
