At a workshop a few weeks ago, a participant walked up and asked me:
Is there any free software to record a video on a CD/DVD?
The answer is YES, of course. But what software?
Here’s the short list:
Completely Free Software:
(Updated to reflect Danny Maas’ suggestion of DVD Flick)
- DVD Flick – http://dvdflick.net/
- AVSMedia – http://www.avsmedia.com/AVS-DVD-Copy.aspx
- ImgBurn – http://www.imgburn.com/
For cost software:
- StarBurn ($25) – http://www.rocketdivision.com/download_starburn.html
Startburn Video – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2C5nqEfBtc - Express Burn Plus Video Edition ($48) – http://www.nch.com.au/burn/index.html
When I chatted with him, I thought the following programs would work since they were free but I discovered they don’t handle DVD burning well, but they work well with CDs:
- InfraRecorder – http://infrarecorder.org/
- CDBurnerXP – http://www.cdburnerxp.se/

Hi Miguel,How about DVD Flick? Simple interface, ability to add numerous file types, and free (as in beer). http://www.dvdflick.net/index.php
