Use ChatGPT? Your chats are going to end up in public thanks to a lawsuit. I had heard about this but since I was working on some projects, I hadn’t spent the time looking it up. Ugh. As Nate points out in his piece, this has a chilling effect on all AI.
I read this after viewing BoodleBox’ Zach Kinzler’s video on LinkedIn. What a shocker for privacy.

NYT’s copyright crusade weaponizes discovery, forcing OpenAI to warehouse every private prompt—jeopardizing public trust in AI in the name of journalism.
The sheer scope of the order is breathtaking. It sweeps in every prompt and response from anyone on ChatGPT Free, Plus, Pro, Team, or the standard API—even data users already deleted. Only Enterprise, Edu, and Zero-Data-Retention API customers are exempt.
In the meantime, check out BoodleBox (try it with my referral code):

They assert:
PRIVACY SHOULDN’T BE A LUXURY IN AI—BOODLEBOX JUST PROVED IT’S POSSIBLE TO HAVE BOTH POWERFUL AI AND IRONCLAD DATA PROTECTION!
We’re proud to announce that BoodleBox has achieved the security trifecta: SOC2 Type II, GDPR, and HIPAA compliance! This milestone validates our commitment to providing AI tools that respect your data sovereignty.
🛡️ BoodleBox anonymizes all prompts before they reach model providers and prohibits third parties from using your data to train their models—unlike many other AI platforms
🔒 Our advanced token reduction technology means up to 96% less of your data ever leaves our secure environment, while uploaded documents remain protected unless explicitly shared
🚫 Zero training on user data—we never use your conversations or uploaded content to train models, period
For educational institutions, these certifications mean you can finally integrate AI without compromising student privacy or institutional compliance requirements. As AI becomes increasingly central to education, BoodleBox ensures that innovation doesn’t come at the cost of privacy—allowing faculty and students to explore AI’s potential with complete peace of mind.
Explore our comprehensive privacy and security measures to see how we protect your data while enabling powerful educational insights. (link in comments)
