My old laptop had stumbled on ZorinLinux when it came to NVIDIA support. The machine kept restarting. So, even though I hold ZorinLinux in high esteem and run it on a dual-boot desktop, I had to try something else.
Update: Since I drafted this, I have installed MX Linux on a work laptop and a desktop where I had ZorinLinux before. MX Linux works great!
For awhile, I thought PopOS! support would get the job done. It did until it didn’t. Cosmic is a hot mess on my 2018 laptop. I turned to MXLINUX, which I had played around with years ago.
You just need to download the MX Linux ISO from the official website. You can pick from three desktop environments: XFCE, KDE, and Fluxbox. I chose XFCE because it’s more lightweight and stable than KDE.
This Linux distro will give your old Windows 10 PC a new lease on life
Sure enough, what an amazing distro.
